I'm back!

"But wait", you say......."Bill, you never really left, so how can you now be back?????"

Because it's a metaphor, silly.......I didn't really leave, but I was definitely struggling with a bit of post-Boston blues which, when combined with a lack of a training plan, left me having a hard time getting out and running again.

Well, I've run 3 times so far this week and I'm back to looking forward to running......so I guess that means I'm BACK, BABY!!!!    YEAH!!!!!!!

So to all my new blogger-buddies out there, I thank you for all your kind words of encouragement and support.  This particular corner of the "blogosphere" is a really cool place to hang out, and you all are the reason why, so thanks!

Now.......anybody up for a run with a slow, middle-aged, middle school Social Studies teacher who is going to start training soon for his 3rd marathon????   Give me a call!  :>)

  1. Epic comeback, way to rock it :-)
Middle school social studies teacher? Nice, kids that age are a hoot and make up the majority of my "client" base (which would technically be their parents since they pay but whatever..) Funny and fun age group.

    1. They are funny and fun.......a bit unfocused, but hey, I'm trying to get them to care about stuff that happened in the past, which for me is 200 years ago......for them, it's LUNCH! LOL

    1. um...it would seem that one of your newest FWP's (probably due to some kind of butterfly/moth distraction) is not looking at countdown clocks at the TOP of people's blog pages!!!!! Ok, that was a bit nasty on my part, but still.......c'mon Sara!!! LOL

I'm running the ING Hartford Marathon on October 13th.......

    1. thanks, Michelle.....I knew it was only a matter of time! Great posting on your experience as a race director. I enjoy volunteering at races.....but then again, as a teacher, I feel a bit of an obligation to not just "talk the talk", but to "walk the walk" as well......can't encourage my students to do public service without doing some myself. And it benefits other runners AND the community......Win-Win-Win!

  4. The break was actually probably just what you needed. I should have cut back more than I did post Boston, but didn't, and now I'm tired. So enjoy your return and your fresh legs!

    1. Thanks, MZ.....I'm not yet doing any real "training", but just getting out there and running again feels GREAT! I feel like I recovered very well from Boston, which I think is a testament to both my training AND how VERY easy I took it that day! :>) I'm sure you'll be out there putting up times I could only dream about very soon!

  5. You just ran Boston! You never left. I have taken breaks of years, so a 6 week layoff is nothing. I know all about the post marathon blues, like I am not sure I ever really want to run again, much less a piddly 5 mile run that means nothing. So kudos for keeping on it!

And I am a Texas Ranger fan. Don;t get me started on long suffering tales of woe.

    1. Thanks, man......and I cannot wait to hear how your race this weekend goes!!!!

Doesn't nearly every fan base think they've suffered???? But how long have the Rangers been in existence? I do like your team this year......and that Hamilton kid is doing great!

  6. So glad you are back!!! Enjoy the runs! I would totally take you up on the offer to run with you but it would be quite the commute. :)

  7. Thanks, Erin.......although do you really think you could go as slow as me??? I mean, your recovery runs are my speedwork!!!!!

Loved your recent post.......the scenery you run through must get so boring after a while.......like NEVER! And that argument between your legs and your brain.....I think I have that one every time.....and thankfully, my brain wins most of them!

  8. It's really hard to get back to running after a huge goal is met. I'm always down in the dumps after.
    Glad you're back, though!
