Short and sweet post tonight............dealing with a nasty little head cold and about to head off to bed, but just wanted to let you all know that I'm back on a training schedule in advance of my next marathon (ING Hartford - 10/13/12), which means I'm going to be blogging regularly as I get ready for a corrective experience. Not truly being a believer in luck or superstition, I am going to sign off on the idea of the "third time being the charm". Hartford will be my 3rd marathon and thus far, I've dealt with awful weather (cold, wet storm at the 2009 Baystate, and the crazy, April microwave that was the 2012 Boston Marathon) twice, I'm so very hopeful for "normal" fall weather this coming October......fingers crossed!
Had a nice, short, slow run after school today.......and I'm really excited about gettin' after it again!!!
See you all out there on the road.....
Let it begin!! Good luck with training!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still debating Hartford myself. Will decide by next week or so. Correction on the date - it's on 10/13/12 :)
thanks, Jose.....I probably shouldn't post when I'm full of decongestants! LOL
DeleteHope you feel better! Get some rest and then get back out there and get this marathon training going!! Haha!! Good luck with your training and I hope your third marathon is the best ever. My next marathon will be my third as well and I hope it's the best!
ReplyDeletethanks, Sandy! It always seems to be that the end of every school year brings on a bit of a physical breakdown, what with all of the stress of getting grades done, classroom cleaned and packed up, and everything else. Two days later and I'm still not back to 100%.....but I'm hopeful!
DeleteArgh. Head colds suck....get better! Don't run with any fever or virus!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know you ran baystate...cold and wet..ha!? The LA marathon in 2011 had 1" of rain during the race BUCKETS..rain doesn't bother me anymore..keeps me cool! (yes have a jacket!)
Hartford in October could be an Indian Summer as you know 8/
Anyway, let's not obsess. Cool or cold is way way better than HOT. but hopefully neither!
Excelsior!
thanks, Paul......I'm going to bet on the weather being more "normal" for October, but even an Indian Summer would be better than either of the situations I dealt with previously. I'll take those odds anytime!
Deletehope that cold leaves soon! Can't wait to hear how training goes. Hopefully third time is the charm :)
ReplyDeletethanks, Meg......really appreciate the support!
DeleteHope you are feeling better soon! And you got this dear friend, I just know it! Keep us posted!
ReplyDeletethanks, Michelle......and the same goes for you! Can't wait to "watch" you prepare for your date with the big 26.2!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, eventually the odds of a decent weather marathon work in your favor!
ReplyDeleteHappy training to you! I'd like to do Hartford at some point, so will look forward to sharing your experience via blog :)
that's my sincere hope, Lisa......not to be too whiny about it, but I'm DUE!!! LOL
DeleteEven if the weather isn't perfect, you are basically a pro at bad weather at this point :) Shouldn't scare you at all!
ReplyDeleteI fear no weather.......for I have run through it all! "There's no such thing as bad weather....there are only soft people!".
DeleteI guess it's just that I would ONE TIME not have to suffer simply because of the weather....just ONCE!!! PLEASE!!!!!!
